Monash Low FODMAP Certified (TM)

Monash University researchers have certified all our flavors as Low FODMAP. The Low FODMAP Diet restricts foods that irritate the gut and trigger Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms like intestinal bloating, gas and pain. These problematic foods contain high levels of sugars called FODMAPs. We recommend following the Monash University Low FODMAP Diet™ under supervision from a qualified dietitian or healthcare professional experienced in this specialized area. The approach begins with a 2-6 week high restriction period before transitioning to a more relaxed diet as you gradually reintroduce certain foods. Despite its name, the low FODMAP approach aims to improve digestive health rather than promote weight loss.

What Are FODMAPs?

FODMAPs include specific sugars your body cannot completely digest or absorb in your intestines. When these sugars reach your small intestine, they move slowly and draw water into your digestive tract. As they travel to your large intestine, gut bacteria ferment them, producing gas. This combination of extra gas and water stretches your intestinal wall. People with IBS have highly sensitive digestive systems, so this stretching creates intense pain and discomfort sensations.

“We believe in the collective action for better farming practices, exemplifying our commitment to responsible olive oil production and shaping a sustainable future.”

Premium Oil. Premium Quality. Explore Artisan Collection.

We create our Artisan Collection by emulsifying less than 2% flavored oleoresin oil with Cobram Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our approach differs from most infused or flavored oils because we avoid co-milling the ingredients. This preservation technique minimizes flavor and quality degradation, allowing Monash University to certify our products as low FODMAP friendly. We never heat the oil, maintaining the full integrity of our extra virgin olive oil. Our entire production follows our Tree to Table promise, with all steps crafted in-house using our state-of-the-art machinery.

Frequently Asked Questions about EVOO

Who should follow a FODMAP diet?

A FODMAP diet is intended is for people with medically diagnosed IBS. If a medical doctor has not diagnosed your gastrointestinal symptoms, you should not be following this diet. There are many conditions with symptoms that are similar to IBS, such as coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, endometriosis and bowel cancer. You should not self-diagnose yourself with IBS. Instead, see a medical doctor who will assess your symptoms, run any tests needed to rule out other conditions and give you a clear diagnosis of IBS before you start this diet.

Benefits of the Monash University Low FODMAP Diet™

Researchers at Monash University did the original research to come up with the concept of FODMAPs and to establish the efficacy of a low FODMAP diet. Monash research showed IBS symptoms improve in 3 out of 4 people who follow a low FODMAP diet. Other research groups from all over the world have since shown similar results. Because of this, a low FODMAP diet is now recommended as the first treatment choice for people diagnosed with IBS.

How does the Low FODMAP Diet work?

Developed by Monash University researchers, the Low FODMAP Diet limits foods that have been shown to aggravate the gut and cause Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms like intestinal bloating, gas and pain. These foods are high in a group of sugars called FODMAPs. The Monash University Low FODMAP Diet™ is best followed under the supervision of a qualified dietitian or healthcare professional who is experienced in this specialized area. The diet begins with a 2-6 week period of high restriction and then transitions to a more relaxed diet where certain foods are gradually re-introduced. Despite including the word “diet”, a low FODMAP approach to eating is not intended as a weight loss plan.
